EXTENSIONS (1990 - 1991)
EXTENSIONS is an exhibition of 16 photographic images, electronically processed by computer in 1987/89. The dimensions of the images shown vary between 18.8 x 37.9 cm and 20.3 x 44.0 cm. The images and texts in the exhibition catalogue were trasfered by digital-magnetic means into the Scitex pre-printing system from ROCHA/Artes Gráficas, Lda. and were later printed in offset 150 lpi and 3600dpi. That fact involved some differences in expression, namely in the colour and in the detail in relation with the original images shown which were printed with a special Canon pigment inks output unit of medium resolution. Catalogue edition: 750 printed copies in Creaprint 250g paper f rom TORRAS Papel.
The creative process was initiated either using a scanner as large format photographic camera or with a SX-70 polaroid image, which therefore is supposed to be final, and it is then continued after its digitalisation in a scanner, in a computer which uses image processing programmes, of 8 bits in this case, as if it were an digital laboratory; finally, the output was done in a colour printer of medium resolution.
Exhibited at Imagolucis Gallery, in Porto, from 8th to 30th November 1991.
